▶ Your Answer :The
conflicting loyalties are definitely possible to be maintained. Indeed, some
might demolish it in an unrecoverable way but usually, people can find ways to
sustain it. As Odysseus kept his loyalties and so did his gorgeous wife,
Penelope, we can surely maintain conflicting loyalties.
One
example of my point is Odysseus. He, the unchanging, wise hero who was
unwaveringly loyal to his dear Penelope despite the charming goddess Calypso’s
wooing, is undoubtedly an exemplary of the argument. Despite 20 years of long
trials, he never found love in anyone but his wife. Although he conflicted from
separation with his beloved Penelope, which is more or less twenty years,
still, his heart solely lied to her. The wooing of deathless, never aging
goddess should have been enough to melt Odysseus but still, as he refuged it
and returned to Ithaca and such case of Odysseus proves to be an everlasting
proof.
Another
example is Penelope. As Odysseus went on with Achaeans for Priam’s citadel, she
was left alone in Ithaca. Her days without Odysseus lasted for twenty years and
it was enough to incline her to find another man and yet, she kept her faith in
Odysseus despite a myriad of her suitors’ proposals. As observed from Odysseus,
she, too, was only loyal to her dearest man and was intransigent about it. She
was certainly one of those who had still laid perennial loyalties to those they
love and therefore is an excellent one to support my point.
To
sum up, I firmly believe it is possible to maintain conflicting loyalties. Sure,
there will be numerous times when our loyalties will be tested. But as the two
aforementioned examples prove, conflicting loyalties is indeed possible since Odysseus
and Penelope has done it. If some has already done it, why can the rest do so
by any means?
